My Vegan Christmas Carol

A friend of mine suggested veganizing holiday songs. Here is my version, a Vegan version of "Do You Hear What I Hear."

Said the turkey to the little lamb
Do you see what I see
On tables all across the land
Do you see what I see
Our selves, our flesh
All cut up with a knife
To celebrate our Savior’s life
To celebrate our Savior’s life

Said the piglet to the hare
Do you hear what I hear
Cries and screams fill the air
Do you hear what I hear
A colt, a calf
Is torn from Mother’s side
For milk and meat and tender hide
For milk and meat and tender hide

Said the cow to the little hen
Do you know what I know
We’ll never raise our children
Do you know what I know
Our legs, our breasts
We’re just a plate of parts
They’re ruled by taste and not their hearts
They’re ruled by taste and not their hearts

Said a voice to the people everywhere
Listen to what I say
Pray for peace for beings everywhere
Listen to what I say
A heart, a life
All deserve to live
Don’t take away what God did give
Don’t take away what God did give

A heart, a life
All deserve to live
Don’t take away what God did give
Don’t take away what God did give

Wishing everyone a happy and compassionate Chanukah, Christmas, Yule, Kwaanza and New Year.

The "V" Word: Say it. Eat it. Live it.
